Chief Concierge · Treasurer, Les Clefs d'Or Australia
Hyatt Regency Sydney
At Wagen, we are proud to support those who welcome every guest and transform the stay of every traveller.
This November 2025, we celebrate Peter Brown, whose remarkable journey into hospitality began most unexpectedly. Initially an apprentice carpenter, Peter's career took an inspiring turn when a spontaneous trip to Japan led him to a small hotel in Shizuoka, where his natural charm and dedication quickly earned the trust of its owners. What started as a short-term adventure became a two-year experience that awakened his passion for hospitality — a passion that would define the rest of his working life.
Upon returning home, Peter headed to Sydney, determined to pursue a career in hotels. He joined the Hotel Nikko as a Doorman, facing the challenges of city life on his own but never losing his enthusiasm. Guided by accomplished chief concierges Peter set his goal early: to one day wear the golden keys. Through dedication, class and genuine care, Peter became a proud member of Les Clefs d'Or Australia in 2008 and currently serves as Treasurer, supporting his community & peers across the country.
Peter's character is strongly defined by loyalty and commitment, with over 30 years dedicated to his current property. Where over the years he has witnessed major transformation from Hotel Nikko to Four Points by Sheraton, and today, Hyatt Regency Sydney. Through these changes, one constant has remained: Peter's welcoming smile and his ability to make everyone feel special. Known for his warmth and mentorship, Peter has built a strong and loyal concierge team, with many members growing alongside him through different chapters of the hotel's journey. He attributes this long-standing success to genuine connection and mutual support. "Connect with people and build a family within your team — that's how you grow in hospitality," he says.
When asked about Wagen, Peter speaks with heartfelt appreciation. To him, the Wagen Bellboy Trolley is more than just equipment — it's part of the hotel's story. "The trolley creates its own little magic," he explains. "It's where conversations start, memories are made, and the hotel experience truly begins."
After nearly three decades as a concierge, Peter remains a symbol of dedication and passion. His story is not just about longevity, but about genuine human connection — a reminder that hospitality is, above all, about people.
We are honoured to celebrate Peter's journey and his contribution to the art of hospitality.
