At Wagen, we are proud to support those who welcome every guest and transform the stay of every traveller. Through our Icons of Hospitality series, we celebrate the people behind the scenes who shape unforgettable guest experiences through dedication, leadership and genuine care.

This December 2025, we are honoured to celebrate Nadia Moriconi, a hospitality professional whose career spans more than two decades across Brazil, the United States and Australia. Originally from São Paulo, Nadia's journey has taken her through some of the world's most respected hotel brands, building a career grounded in service excellence, people leadership and operational integrity. Today, she continues to make a meaningful impact in her role at Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach.

One of the most important stages of her journey was at Hilton São Paulo Morumbi, where she worked as a Housekeeping Supervisor. From there, she moved to the United States to work at Embassy Suites Lombard in Chicago as an Assistant Executive Housekeeper. Once back in Australia, she continued her career in luxury hospitality, working at Hilton Melbourne South Wharf and later at Sofitel Sydney Wentworth, where she stayed for several years. In 2020, she relocated to the Gold Coast and took on the role of Area Executive Housekeeper at Peppers & Mantra Kingscliff.

Nadia has been in Housekeeping for about 20 years and describes it as the heart of the hotel. "This is where all the action happens, no day is the same. It is crazy, but also fun! You meet a lot of people, staff, guests. Where I see the opportunity, I love organising something special for our guests, little moments that I know they will remember. That makes me happy!"

When asked about what most people don't realise about housekeeping, Nadia is clear: "Housekeeping is not only about cleaning, it's about caring for our guests, it's about creating special moments, but making sure guests know they are seen. We are more than cleaners — we are experience makers. We listen, we engage, we make it fun, we make it special."

"Housekeeping is not only about cleaning — it's about caring for our guests, creating special moments, making sure they know they are seen. We are experience makers."

Her advice for younger professionals: "If you choose a career, do it with passion. In hospitality, passion is the essence of what we do. It is finding the joy in serving people, creating memorable moments and genuinely caring. If you have this, you will naturally succeed."

We are honoured to celebrate Nadia's journey and grateful for her contribution to the hospitality industry.
